The NHL's waiver wire has been chaotic in recent days, but with the regular season now upon us, there has been fewer moves, but still some shocking ones on Tuesday.

Over the last few days, we saw NHL teams across the league trim their rosters down ahead of the regular season, and while just five players were claimed yesterday, a pool of almost 60 were placed on waivers. Tuesday's update is a lot less than that, but still some very interesting names out there, especially Chris Driedger, a veteran goaltender waived by the Florida Panthers.

With the loss of Anthony Stolarz this off-season, the team will now turn to Spencer Knight as their primary backup, but the team couldn't help but bring Driedger back into the fold, who they hope will clear waivers and head to the AHL as a fantastic depth option in 2024/25. Last season, he spent most of his time with the Seattle Kraken's AHL organization, tallying a .917 save percentage and a 2.26 GAA in 39 games played, showing that he can still get it done at a high level despite his demotion from the NHL.

The other interesting waiver move today is Raphael Lavoie, who was waived by the Vegas Golden Knights, despite the team just picking him up off waivers on Monday from the Edmonton Oilers.

Unsurprisingly, the expectation is that he will return to the Oilers as they look to make it back to the Stanley Cup Finals in 2024/25, with some very intriguing and somewhat confusing moves being made in recent days. Beyond those two moves there were two other names placed on waivers, with both likely to clear given the way that teams have already assembled their roster, and with the regular season beginning for every team this week, now, the fun begins.
