The hockey world has seen some unbearable tragedies in recent times, and now a former OHL player has tragically lost his battle with cancer.

This past summer has been a tough one for those in the hockey world, with the high profile passing of Johnny Gaudreau mourned by all in Columbus, Calgary and around the NHL.

Unfortunately, there's now been more bad news for the hockey community, as it was announced that former OHL player Kurtis Evans tragically lost his battle with cancer at just 23-years of age. The OHL officially announced the passing on Monday to major support for Evans' family and former teammates on social media, as many shared touching words for the former forward who was beloved by so many on and off the ice in Ontario, with the Uxbridge native clearly an amazing figure in the community.

During two seasons in the OHL with the North Bay Battalion, Evans played in 54 games with the team, and while he wouldn't go on to a career in the NHL, he impressed everyone with his work ethic, attitude and friendly nature. Evans has battled with the cancer for quite some time now, but at 23 he tragically lost the battle, and in tribute of his life on and off the ice, the family would love donations to Ewings Cancer Foundation of Canada, as per the OHL's official statement on Evans.

At this time, there's truly no words to give to the family, former teammates and friends of Evans, so we send them our condolences and our support, and hope they can find some joy in his memory during this incredibly tough time in their lives.
