Les Rangers de New York viennent tout juste de faire une annonce majeure. En effet, l'organisation a congédié son entraîneur-chef, Gerard Galland, en raison des insuccès de l'équipe en séries éliminatoires.
Durant ses deux saisons à titre d'entraîneur-chef, la formation américaine a compilé une fiche impressionnante de 99-46-19. Bien que les Rangers s'étaient rendus en finale d'association la saison dernière, leur élimination au premier tour des séries a été perçu comme un échec désastreux cette année.
Gerard Gallant a tout de même tenu à remercier l'organisation, lui qui a passé deux merveilleuses saisons à New York :
