After carelessly driving while intoxicated and ending the lives ofMatthew Gaudreau and Johnny Gaudreau, recent pretrial footage of Sean Higgins has surfaced, showing him as even more disgusting than hockey fans first thought.

There are no words to describe the horror and tragedy of the loss the hockey community suffered in the last 24 hours, with the deaths of Matthew and Johhny Gaudreau. At just 29 and 31 years old, both players were struck while cycling in Salem County, New Jersey the night before they were to be groomsmen at their sister's wedding. The brothers' uncle Jim Gaudreau released a statement about the loss to the media earlier today, honoring their legacy and asking for continued respect and privacy.

"Last night, we lost two husbands, two fathers, two sons, two brothers, two sons and brothers in law, two nephews, two cousins, two family members, two teammates, two friends, but truly two amazing humans.

We want to let everyone know we are receiving your messages of love and support and we appreciate your continued thoughts and prayers. We ask for your continued respect and privacy during this very difficult period of grief.

From all our families and the bottom of our hearts (the Gaudreau, Morris, Korbitz, Venello, and Joyce Families.)"

However, the pain and turmoil all families and fans are feeling are far from over, as we all manage the depravity of the character responsible for this tragedy. Sean Higgins, a 43-year-old New Jersey man, allegedly admitted to the officers on the scene that he had five or six beers before getting behind the wheel, which is already an unforgivable act. Yet, when pretrial hearings came, he proved to be less than worthless, after showing absolutely no remorse for his actions. When he was informed he would have to wait in jail for a minimum of 72 hours, he expressed exasperation and sighed in frustration.

"'SoI'm here until Thursday?' Higgins asked Judge Michael J. Silvanio at one point during the proceedings.

When the judge explained that the usual 72-hour holding period was extended due to the holiday weekend, Higgins sat back in his chair and let out a heavy sigh.

Higgins, who is facing two counts of second degree vehicle manslaughter, was expressionless as the judge recounted how he killed the two brothers."

This tragedy is going to take a long time for hockey fans to get used to, and the grief will last much longer for the families of both Matthew and Johnny Gaudreau. Yet, with such callous disregard for human life, it will be even harder to move past the anger we all hold for Sean Higgins. Hopefully, he will be punished to the full extent of the law and we get closer to a day this calamity will not happen again. In the meantime, we hope you can join us in wishing the best for the deceased's family and friends through these difficult times.
