Many expected Jeremy Swayman to be signed by the Boston Bruins already, but now, he's made it clear that he's not exactly happy with how things have gone.

For weeks now, it has been a shock to many that Jeremy Swayman is yet to ink a new deal with the Boston Bruins, especially after the team traded away his best friend Linus Ullmark, signalling clear intent to head into 2024/25 with him as the team's clear cut No. 1 starter. Last year however, the two parties went to arbitration, and after inking a one-year deal there, he remains a restricted free agent, and according to all reports, they remain a long way off on extension talks, and it may be that arbitration hearing that has something to do with it.

Unsurprisingly in these comments, Swayman makes it clear that he has a great knowledge of the salary cap and wants to be compensated for what he's done for Boston, with all signs clearly pointing to a holdout.

«If you were to ask me that question a year ago, I would answer truthfully and say «it's scary, it's a lot of resentment towards people that want you to succeed. And when you're not being compensated for your endless effortsit's a nerve racking feeling, because it's your family you're fighting for.»»

«The answer I'm gonna give you this year, is that I've educated myself, and I understand the business side of it all. It's given me a complete new mindset of understanding the business and how to react to it. I understand the cap is going up and where it will be in years. I understand my comparables and how I can't ruin the goalie market for guys that are gonna be in my shoes down the line».

«I went to the school of business for the university of Maine, and I love the business side of it all.»

With training camp just a matter of weeks away, there's very little time for something to change in talks, so don't be surprised if a holdout comes, and with Swayman the lone quality starter for Boston, he may have the leverage needed to get what he wants in a contract.
