Rutger McGroarty has revealed the true reason he demanded to be traded out of Winnipeg, and now he's getting a ton of backlash online by the fans.

Pittsburgh Penguins forward Rutger McGroarty allegedly never engaged in discussions with Winnipeg GM Kevin Cheveldayoff regarding his playing time or his position on the team. He apparently sought a trade because he felt uncomfortable wearing the team's jersey, stating that it didn't "feel right."
Kevin Cheveldayoff claimed that Rutger McGroarty confided in him, expressing that upon donning the jersey at the development camp last year, it suddenly became a problem and it didn't feel authentic or natural to him.
Fans were quick to take to the internet, expressing their heavy displeasure towards the young forward.
Rutger McGroarty won't have to worry about that jersey anymore, as he is now a member of the Pittsburgh Penguins, after months of trade speculation was surfacing online.
Rutger McGroarty was drafted in the first round by the Winnipeg Jets in the 2022 NHL Entry Draft with the 14th overall pick. He has never played an NHL game in his career before, which was initially thought to be one of the reasons he wanted out, so that he could get more playing time, however it appears it was based more off the fact that he felt uncomfortable in the Jets jersey.
