Logan Thompson was seen for the first time at practice with the Washington Capitals rocking his new pads, but certain people feel they resemble the Confederate Flag.

The Washington Capitals recently acquired goaltender Logan Thompson from the Vegas Golden Knights for two third round draft picks and he was just seen at one of the team's practice facilities rocking some new pads for the upcoming season. The style of the pads has sparked some backlash online, as many feel it resembles too much the look of the Confederate Flag.

Fans were in utter shock by this and began to comment online about how the pads are referencing a part of America's history that shouldn't be brought up in the game of hockey.

As much as fans think it resembles that flag, one needs to only look at the Capitals alternate jersey, which has the same color scheme and stars present, such as in this Alex Ovechkin picture.

Logan Thompson's pads have the blue, white and red colors as well as the stars, similarly to Alexander Ovechkin's alternate jersey. Thompson's pads definitely do give flashbacks of the Confederate Flag, but no doubt that is likely not what he had in mind, as he was trying to replicate the Capitals alternate jersey scheme. It will be interesting to see if he decides to completely change them now that he has possibly been made aware of this connection to the flag.

Logan Thompson was never drafted and signed back in 2020 by the Vegas Golden Knights. In his career 103 games played, he has a record of 56-32-11, with a 2.67 GAA and a .912 save %.
