Two years after he had left the league, Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog stated that his return to the NHL was coming sooner rather than later.

Gabriel was undoubtedly a key player for the Colorado Avalanche. After playing with the team for more than a decade, he had the opportunity as the captain to lead the team to victory in the 2022 Stanley Cup Finals, taking down the then-reigning champions, the Tampa Bay Lightning, in six games.
However, he made his last appearance in the league that year, having to opt out of the following season due to a knee injury that required surgery. He was forced out of the 2023 NHL playoffs, and after reaggravation, had to get a follow-up surgery that disqualified him from any 2023-24 appearances.
However, now that he has been two years away from the rigor of the NHL, many have noticed Gabriel Landeskog increasing his training and skating regimen as he approaches the upcoming NHL season. Only a few days ago, the NHL Network reported that Colorado Avalanche head coach Jared Bednar was hopeful for the player's return to the team, expecting it to occur early in the 2024-25 season.
"Haven't seen him in two years on the ice, are you surprised by that? The fact that- look it's great news for Avs fans, for hockey fans in general Gabe Landeskog tremendous ambassador to our sports, great leader on the ice- but to see him back on the ice is something we haven't seen in a while."

Gabriel Landeskog has finally given Colorado Avalanche fans another personal update about his potential return to the league. After a recent meeting with members of the press, the NHL captain has assured his supporters that though he remains uncertain of exactly when, his return to the lineup will happen in the upcoming season.
Gavriel Landeskog has an impressive production record in the NHL, scoring 248 goals and 571 points in 738 career games. Yet, re-entering the league after two years recovering at the age of 31 can prove a possible risk for both parties. Hopefully, Gabriel Landeskog can reintegrate into the Colorado Avalanche lineup without a hitch.
