The next great women's hockey player Nela Lopusanova commits to NCAA school
Nela Lopusanova, one of the most highly touted young female players in the history of women's hockey, has officially committed to play in the NCAA.
Lopusanova, 16, officially announced her commitment to play women's college hockey for the University of Wisconsin Badgers.
Born in Slovakia, Lopusanova emerged onto the public eye after dominating against boys in the Slovakian U16 league as a 14-year-old, netting 24 goals along with 56 points in just 19 games, her 2.95PPG higher than drafted NHLers at the same age, including Martin Chromiak, Adam Sykora & first round pick Filip Mesar.
As well as her scoring against boys, Lopusanova easily dominated against women and girls, scoring 49 points in 8 games in the Slovakian women's league, scoring at a 6PPG pace. Lopusanova had 89 points in 14 games.
In the U18 Worlds, Lopusanova led the tournaments with 12 points in 5 games, gaining even more exposure thanks to jaw-dropping plays throughout the tournament.
Lopusanova, now 16, is currently playing in the United States in the girls HS Prep circuit with Bishop Kearney, and will later continue playing with Wisconsin in the NCAA before likely pursuing PWHL eligibility.
Wisconsin had two 2024 PWHL draft picks in Britta Curl and Anna Wilgren, selected 9th and 29th respectively.
