Everything changed Sunday when Committee Olympic Paraguay general manager Larissa Schaerer issued a statement saying that Alonso's presence was having a very negative, inappropriate effect on the rest of the team.
Alonso ended up packing her bags after her request was granted and she left the Olympic village. Her absence only lasted one night, as the very next day she was back, and acting as if she were on one heck of a fun vacation.
She came in 6th place in the 100m butterfly and did not qualify for the semi-finals. In addition to these failures, she immediately announced her retirement from swimming in a social media post, however she has stayed in Paris, likely to continue it as a vacation.
