In 2024, much history was made in the Stanley Cup Finals, with the Edmonton Oilers almost made more, falling just short of becoming the first team to comeback from an 0-3 record in the Finals. That didn't end up happening however, and the Panthers won their first Stanley Cup in franchise history after a heartbreaking loss a year ago.
On top of that, Aleksander Barkov became the first Finnish captain in NHL history to lift the Cup, capping off a fairytale run with the team that drafted him a decade ago.
This is akin to the White House visit that title winning teams in the United States get, and with so many Finnish players coming to the NHL, this may not be the last time we see an amazing honour like this.
