Brad Marchand's latest suspension puts him in the NHL's history books

Anyone who's watched hockey for the last couple of years is well aware that Brad Marchand of the Boston Bruins has been suspended a lot since entering the NHL during the 2009-10 season. However, his latest suspension actually has him surpassing "a lot", and going straight to holding the record for the most NHL individual suspensions ever.

According to the Cam & Strick Podcast, "With his 8th career suspension, Brad Marchand officially passes Chris Pronger for most individual suspensions in NHL history."

By the way, it's worth noting that Pronger played 18 seasons in the NHL. Marchand is currently in his 12th.

Marchand has forfeited close to $1.5 million dollars in lost money due to not playing, and the various fines he's received. Here's a list of his bans and fines throughout his career.

March 17, 2011 -- Suspended 2 games for elbow to R.J. Umberger

Dec. 12, 2011 -- Fined $2,500 for slew-footing Matt Niskanen

Jan. 9, 2012 -- Suspended 5 games for clipping Sami Salo

Jan. 16, 2015 -- Suspended 2 games for slew-footing Derick Brassard

Nov. 13, 2015 -- Fined $5,000 for roughing Gabriel Landeskog

Dec. 30, 2015 -- Suspended 3 games for clipping Mark Borowiecki

Jan. 26, 2017 -- Fined $10,000 for tripping Niklas Kronwall

April 6, 2017 -- Suspended 2 games for spearing Jake Dotchin

Jan. 25, 2018 -- Suspended 5 games for elbowing Marcus Johansson

Nov. 30, 2021 -- Suspended three games for slewfooting Oliver Ekman-Larsson

Feb 9, 2022 -- Suspended 6 games for roughing/high-sticking Tristan Jarry.
