Jack Campbell has been highly scrutinized in recent years, but now the veteran goaltender has fallen on hard times and entered the NHLPA Player Assistance Program.

Over the past few years, Jack Campbell has struggled to live up to the hype of being a highly paid goaltender in the NHL with the Edmonton Oilers, and this summer, he found himself on a new team with the Detroit Red Wings. Unfortunately, right before the 2024/25 regular season is set to begin, he has now had a massive setback off the ice, as it has been revealed that Campbell is heading into the NHLPA's Player Assistance Program.

This move will keep him away from the team for an indefinite length of time, and while it's not clear exactly what has forced this move on Campbell, it's not a good sign either way. In recent years, we've seen players enter the program for mental health reasons, addiction reasons or purely on the back of a controversy where the league needs to help the player, so there are many possibilities at this stage in time. This is a move supported by the Red Wings and the NHL, as the team want their players to get help with anything they need as the NHLPA's Player Assistance Program has been a huge help for so many over the years.

Whatever the reason, given the stresses and the pressure of being a high profile player in the NHL, it's always a good move to get help if it is needed, so we hope that whatever has caused this move from Campbell, he can get past it, get back to 100% physically and mentally and get back on the ice as soon as he possibly can.
