Elliotte Friedman has revealed today, on his Podcast 32 Thoughts, that the Anaheim Ducks are considering trading franchise legend Cam Fowler.

Cam Fowler, the twelfth overall pick in 2010, has played all 974 games of his NHL career with the Anaheim Ducks. He represented the team at the 2017 All-Star Game, and has been one of the faces of the franchise for over a decade.

Since the moment he joined the team, he has been a top-pairing defenseman, averaging over 23 minutes per night in his career. He has bled Anaheim Ducks passion for 14 years, but all good things must come to an end.

Per Elliotte Friedman, the Anaheim Ducks are beginning to have conversations to give Cam Fowler a change of scenery. With new young players like Pavel Mintyukov coming up into the first-pairing role on the left side, Fowler's role is no longer as necessary for the team. With a 28-team no trade list, there are four undisclosed options of where Fowler could go - he is, however, open to a move.

Cam Fowler is signed through the 2025-26 season at a $6.5 million cap hit, which isn't easy to move. However, due to the shorter remaining term and the Ducks' cap flexibility, retention could certainly be a factor to bring in a pretty penny of a package.

"I don't think anybody will be surprised if some time this season Cam Fowler is elsewhere and from what I've been told it is a positive working environment with him and the Ducks about getting this done and finding him a new place to play."

We will see what is next for Cam Fowler. No matter what, in a few years, he will probably have his number in the rafters of Honda Center.
