Johnny Gaudreau's agent, Lewis Gross, has broken his silence and issued a statement regarding the tragedy that took the life of his client, who has been with him for the past 15 years.
Lewis Gross' statement is another one of many that have continued to come out from various people in the hockey world, and other celebrities too, such as LeBron James.
Johnny's wife, Meredith Gaudreau, also posted several touching tributes to her late husband on Instagram, which has been seen by millions across the world.
On top of all of these heartfelt statements being made, the team announced Thursday that a celebration of life for Blue Jackets star forward Johnny Gaudreau and his brother Matthew will be held at noon on Monday. Those who cannot attend but would like to virtually join the ceremony will be able to watch a live stream of the service on the website of the Blue Jackets, which is great news for all of the fans around the continent.
In a release, the team relayed information that the Gaudreau family is deeply appreciative of all of the love and support while asking for continued privacy during this very difficult time.
The funeral will be held at St. Magdalen Catholic Church, in Media, Pennsylvania, according to Fox 29 Philadelphia. At a news conference Wednesday, Blue Jackets president of hockey operations Don Waddell said the team will attend the service.
Rev. Eric J. Banecker informed his parish that the school affiliated with the church will be closed on Monday because of the "extraordinarily large funeral for two young men, one of whom is a hockey player."
Johnny and Matthew Gaudreau were murdered on August 29 while bicycling together in Oldmans Township, New Jersey. Police say Sean Higgins, 43, who struck the brothers, told investigators he consumed five or six beers before driving. He has now been indicted on two counts of vehicular homicide.
To anyone who is interested in making donations in John and Matthew's memory, they may be made to the following address: John & Matthew Gaudreau Foundation, c/o Lewis Gross, Sports Management, 560 Sylvan Avenue, Suite 3070, Englewood Cliffs, NJ 07632.
Rest in peace, Johnny and Matthew.
