After a lengthy hockey career that included time with the Montreal Canadiens, former defenseman Larry Trader has tragically passed away.

The NHL world has been through some tragedy in recent times, with the past week hitting everyone especially hard, and now the NHL Alumni have announced the passing of a former NHLer. According to the report, Larry Trader, who spent time in the OHL, AHL, NHL and overseas has officially passed away at the age of 61.

"The NHL Alumni Association is saddened to learn that Larry Trader has passed away at the age of 61.

Larry was drafted in the 5th round of the 1981 Entry Draft to the @DetroitRedWings. He played two seasons with the team before moving on to the @StLouisBlues, and finishing his NHL career with the @CanadiensMTL. In total, Larry played in 91 regular-season games, scoring 18 points." The NHL Alumni said.

While he may have only played 91 games in the NHL, the Ontario native represented Canada and had a significant career overseas as well, so this is another passing that should be mourned by the hockey world. We send our condolences to the family, friends and former teammates of Trader, who will all be in our prayers as they look to get through this tragic time in their lives.

Rest in Peace Larry Trader.
