Jaromir Jagr announces he is dealing with a torn hamstring ahead of his 37th professional season
Today hockey legend Jagr shared the sad news that the beginning of his latest professional season will be delayed after he suffered a major injury.
The hockey world has had one constant for almost 40 years now as Jaromir Jagr is embarking on the 37th year of his professional hockey career. At age age 52 Jaromir Jagr is scheduled to be back with the team he owns Kladno in the Czech Extraliga. However, an announcement from Jaromir Jagr himself has revealed that his season debut could be delayed due to a torn hamstring.
After revealing that the injury occurred Jaromir Jagr expanded and confirmed that the injury happened during a training session. He says that he was advised against doing a certain exercise by physiotherapist Pavel Kolář but went ahead with the exercise anyway and sustained the injury.
Of course, I didn't listen to him... I went for a run. Not the sprints I used to do uphill, but normally straight. But I put weights on my ankles and tore my hamstring.
That was about five days ago. Pavel said it would be three to six weeks. We'll see how it heals.
Despite being frustrated that the injury has occurred Jaromir Jagr has now flipped the script and is looking forward. He is going to attack his rehab and try to be back for the team's home opener against Dynamo Pardubice.
I'm curious what Pavel will say to me when we meet again.
As Jaromir Jagr continues his recovery it is important to remember he is 52 years old. He likely does not have much professional hockey ahead of him. Hopefully, his rehab goes well and we see Jaromir Jagr back on the ice for the beginning of the Czech Extraliga season.
