St. Louis Blues and Edmonton Oilers make a last-minute trade following offer sheets to Broberg and Holloway
Despite some tension over the past week following two huge offer sheets, the Edmonton Oilers and St. Louis Blues have now made a surprise trade.
Today, it was officially announced that the St. Louis Blues had signed RFA's Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg, seven days after both were tendered offer sheets which the Edmonton Oilers then declined to match.
However, that hasn't stopped the two parties doing some more business, as the two sides agreed to a surprising trade as the offer sheets were officially announced by both parties.
The trade revolved around 2023 fifth-round pick Paul Fischer, who will head to the Edmonton Oilers for future considerations, moments after they acquired St. Louis' second and third round picks in the 2025 NHL Draft. It's unclear what the Blues will get back for Fischer, a 19-year old defenseman who just finished a 16 point season at Notre Dame.
Ultimately, both parties believe they come out winners in the situation that has taken the hockey world by storm in the past week, and now, both organizations head into the 2024/25 season with some intriguing new storylines to watch.
