The Washington Capitals logo and jersey are among the least liked in the NHL, but reports have emerged that the team may finally change them.

The Washington Capitals are entering a pivotal era in their time as a franchise. Captain and franchise legend Alex Ovechkin is chasing Wayne Gretzky's goal record as he enters the twilight seasons of his career, and newcomers Pierre-Luc Dubois, Andrew Mangiapane, and Nicolas Roy are all set to make major additions to the team's roster.

With this in mind, as the team enters their 50th anniversary as an NHL franchise, reports have emerged that they may revert their logo and jersey to the beloved screaming eagle/.

Per Bleacher Report, the Capitals' 50th anniversary could bring the return of this fan favourite jersey, swapping out the lettering that the team has had for over a decade.

Alex Ovechkin is a mere 42 goals away from being the all time leader in goals scored in the NHL, and his new supporting cast, with a possible redemption tour of Pierre-Luc Dubois who was one of the most shocking trades of the summer, could help get him there. Doing all of this in the Screaming Eagle jerseys would truly be an incredible thing to see.

With new NHL jersey provider Fanatics trying to make positive public relations moves, a return to the Screaming Eagle could be a great decision to win over fans.

The disappointing news is that the Screaming Eagle may only return for one season, if it returns at all, but watching Alex Ovechkin play his final years in the jersey with which it all started in 2005 would be absolutely beautiful.
