Following the hiring of new Edmonton Oilers GM Stan Bowman, thousands of Oilers fans have signed a petition as a form of revolt to have him removed.

Thousands of fans have begun signing a petition to have Stan Bowman removed as general manager of the Oilers, just hours after his hiring was announced by team President Jeff Jackson. It's estimated that the petition already has enough signatures of roughly four times the size of Vatican City.

Bowman was the GM of the Chicago Blackhawks during the 2010 s**ual assault scandal involving former player Kyle Beach. It was revealed roughly ten years after the incident that Bowman was part of a greater cover up scheme that tried to hide the details of the r*pe that occurred by one of the team's equipment managers on Beach. People are saying Bowman knew about it and did nothing to stop it.

It will be interesting to see if this petition actually does anything or not. At the end of the day, Bowman won the Stanley Cup three times, and Jeff Jackson wanted a winner on his team to help the Oilers take home the coveted trophy next season.
