The Edmonton Oilers have made the shocking decision to hire Stan Bowman as their General Manager which has now caused major controversy.

The Edmonton Oilers have been on the hunt for a new General Manager since Ken Holland stepped down just before the NHL Draft. Many were hoping Jeff Jackson would stay in the role after operating as the interim GM over the past several weeks.
However, today reports have confirmed that will not be the case as the Edmonton Oilers have hired Stan Bowman as their new General Manager.
Hearing the Edmonton Oilers will hire Stan Bowman as GM todaymedia conference to be held sometime this morning.
The #Oilers have named Stan Bowman General Manager & Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations.
Stan Bowman of course has been away from the hockey world for several years after a controversial exit. He was involved in covering up major crimes committed against one of his players by a staff member. This led many fans and people around the NHL to want Stan Bowman banned for life.
Clearly that has not happened and now Stan Bowman will be returning with the Edmonton Oilers. This decision will certainly cause outrage it will be interesting to see if that outrage reaches levels like Mitchell Miller and Mike Babcock received in recent years forcing teams to go back on their decisions.
Either way with Stan Bowman back in the NHL everyone who had a hand in allowing him back better hope he has actually learned and grown or they could face a similar fate all over again.
