The Philadelphia Flyers goaltending situation hasn't been going well in the past few years, so when Alexei Kolosov, a former third-round pick came to the AHL to join the Lehigh Valley Phantoms in 2023/24, confidence was high that he could be an NHLer of the future. Unfortunately, this off-season has been a backwards step for the talented prospect, as it has been revealed he has asked his KHL team, Dynamo Minsk to help him get out of his NHL contract to facilitate a return to Europe.
The 22-year old has spent the last five years with Dynamo Minsk in the KHL, with his final season seeing him post an impressive 2.39 GAA and a .907 save percentage through 47 games, before he eventually came to North America last season. He managed just two games in the KHL, going 1-1 and showing flashes of a future NHLer, but this summer report has been highly disappointing for the team.
