The Toronto Maple Leafs' defense is far from ideal, but reports suggest they are looking to change that with a possible signing of Brandon Montour.

Brad Treliving is reportedly ready to make some moves this off-season, both on the trade market and in free agency. While a trade is seeming less likely for a big name like Mitch Marner, the free agency rumours are buzzing with a potential dual signing of defenseman; likely Brandon Montour and Chris Tanev.
Chris Tanev went all the way to the third round this year with the Dallas Stars, and Brandon Montour is only one win away from a Stanley Cup ring. This type of experience could be a gamechanger.
"It's no secret the Leafs will be targeting Florida's (Brandon) Montour if the pending free agent remains unsigned after this Cup final. Chris Tanev is another name that never left Treliving's radar.

It's conceivable the Leafs could land both with a combined spend of $12 million to $13 million (U.S.) of the roughly $19 million in cap space that's available to them. How different would the Leafs' blue line look next season with top-four pairings of Brandon Montour / Jake McCabe and Morgan Rielly / Chris Tanev?"
We will see if the Toronto Maple Leafs can pull off these big moves.
