The Nashville Predators are having a fantastic 2021-22 season, one that few seen coming. It is obvious to anyone that watches the team that Roman Josi's on ice play has played a big part in that, but what they may not know is that his off ice actions may be even more responsible for the turnaround.

Two months into the 2020-21 season, the Predators were struggling. Head coach John Hynes chose to give Josi a call asking how to help fix the team. The conversation ended up lasting for nearly an hour, and almost immediately started paying dividends for the team.

«It was a turning point record-wise, and also a turning point culturally,» Hynes said. «It was a conversation that helped us get to a place and level that was going to give us the best chance to be successful.»

The Predators went on a great run to close out the season, and were able to qualify for the playoffs. Their hot play has continued in 2021-22, as they own a 28-16-4 record through 48 games. Even better is that Josi, who had an off year for his standards in 2020-21 with 33 points in 48 games, has rebounded this season with 47 points in just 46 contests. He is one of the frontrunners for the Norris Trophy, and is the main man responsible for the Predators becoming a very good team once again.
