He had to know this was coming. Evander Kane of the Edmonton Oilers made his first return to San Jose Monday night since having his contract terminated with the Sharks in early January for breaking COVID protocols. Kane signed with Edmonton around three weeks later, following the conclusion of an investigation by the league.

It was anything but an amicable break up with the Sharks, and fans at SAP Center let Kane know they weren't happy with the way things went down, booing him the first time he touched the puck. There were cheers at one point. That happened when Nicolas Meloche gave Kane a solid hit early in the second period. Video of both can be found below. Kane would get the last laugh with Edmonton getting a 3-0 shutout over San Jose. He was held off the scoresheet with 18:41 TOI.
