Jeremy Swayman has struggled early on the season after signing a new contract, and now it appears his starting role in Boston may be in jeopardy.

Much has been made of the Boston Bruins struggles early in the 2024/25 season, as they sit at 9-9-3 through their first 21 games, which isn't the start the organization believed they'd be having.

That's already resulted in the firing of former Jack Adams winner Jim Montgomery, and now, it may ultimately cost goaltender Jeremy Swayman his starters role in net as well.

That was a topic on the recent 32 Thoughts podcast with Elliotte Friedman, as the insider wondered whether or not it's time that the team turn to Joonas Korpisalo instead.

"I'm gonna be honest about this... when I saw the score my initial reaction was I wonder if Korpisalo gets a bit of run here," wondered Friedman on the 32 Thoughts Podcast. "The Bruins are in a place where they have to win games."

In his first game as new Head Coach, Joe Sacco turned to Korpisalo, who would go on to stop all 22 shots he saw, giving the team a clutch 1-0 shutout win over Utah in a much needed game.

"After seeing Korpisalo get the win I'm curious to see who is gonna be their starting goaltender on Saturday," said Friedman. "Does Korpisalo get a bit of a run?"

After signing a massive deal late in the summer, Swayman has struggled early, posting an .884 save percentage, and with Korpisalo thoroughly outplaying him, it's a huge call for Sacco to make.

Ultimately, the team took a major risk by trading away Linus Ullmark, and now the worst case scenario is playing out, and if Swayman can't turn things around quickly, it will continue an ugly start to his new found role as Boston's No. 1.
