Toronto Maple Leafs Forced to Make Unexpected Roster Move Involving Max Pacioretty

The Maple Leafs have just had to move Max Pacioretty to LTIR in order for them to make room for the call-up of top rookie forward Fraser Minten.

The Toronto Maple Leafs will go without forward Max Pacioretty for at least their next seven games with a lower-body injury he sustained on November 9.

In a corresponding move announced Tuesday, the team shifted Pacioretty to LTIR to create the requisite cap space to call up Fraser Minten.

Pacioretty got hurt when he fell into the boards with defenseman Mike Matheson in a game against Montreal and seemed to injure the back of his left leg. He hasn't been spotted on the ice since it happened.

Based on LTIR, he has to sit out at least 10 games and 24 days from the last time he played, that being December 7th against the Pittsburgh Penguins as the earliest return date.

When Pacioretty is fit and ready to play, which GM Brad Treliving did say very cautiously, it could be less severe than originally thought, but he also added that his timeline may be longer.

The 35-year-old Pacioretty began this season on a professional tryout with the Maple Leafs during training camp, eventually signing a one-year deal worth $873,770 on Oct. 7.

This season, he has two goals and four assists in 13 games, averaging just over 12 minutes of ice time.
