A charged member of the 2018 Team Canada Junior scandal and former New Jersey Devils player signed a new professional hockey contract.

With the trial of the five players charged in the 2018 Team Canada Junior scandal set to go down next year, many of them decided to pursue their hockey careers overseas as they wait for the legal procedures to start.

As of now, Alex Formenton, a former Ottawa Senators player, joined the Swiss League but isn't playing this year, Dillon Dube, former Flames, signed a contract with the Minsk Dynamo in the KHL, and Cal Foote, ex-New Jersey Devils, is playing in Slovakia.

In a new development, we learned that Michael McLeod, who was playing with the Devils alongside Foote, also decided to sign a contract with a KHL team.

According to a report, McLeod reached a deal with the Omsk Avangard, after seeing his previous contract with the Nur-Sultan Barys being terminated earlier this season.

McLeod, 26, was drafted 12th overall by the New Jersey Devils in 2016. In the NHL, he took part in 287 games and scored 85 points, including 29 goals, for the Devils between 2018 and 2024.

Many believe the five players shouldn't be allowed to play hockey while they wait for the legal procedures to go down, especially considering that their alleged crime happened during a hockey tournament.

However, they may be banned in North America, but it looks like other leagues don't think they should pay consequences for what they (allegedly) did, and that they deserve to keep playing despite the charges.

What do you think? Should the five players be banned from playing hockey for the rest of their lives?
