Hall played 158 games for the Bruins between 2020 and 2023. He had 44 goals and 111 points in that stretch. Now it could be time for him to return in an effort to save the team.
The Bruins are 8-8-3 this season and alarm bells are ringing in the front office. The team is reportedly looking to make a splash on the trade market so why not reunite with Hall?
Bruins reporter Scott Roche admits that he doesn't fill all of the team's needs at the moment, but at this point doing anything to shake things up could be good at this point. Furthermore, Hall is a trusted player they have relied on in the past and he delivered.
The timing of this is admittedly suspicious as Hall was just made a healthy scratch for the Blackhawks game on Saturday. The team claims it is about him recovering from surgery, but that could be a cover for their real intentions. Could he be on the trade block?
After all, Hall has been disappointing this season and has contributed to the team's lack of success. Its not like the Hawks are expected to be good this year anyways. He isn't even playing with Connor Bedard anymore, so moving him wouldn't affect his development either.
While Hall could be a good fit, Don Sweeney would need to create some cap room. One possible way of doing that would be moving Brandon Carlo's 4.1 million dollar cap hit. According to Elliotte Friedman, Sweeney was just at one of the Blue Jackets recent games.
This is particularly relevant as Bruins reporter Jimmy Murphy claims the Blue Jackets have recently been in discussion with the Bruins regarding Carlo.
If this is true, it could be part of a larger move to bring in a player like Hall. Either way, it seems like Don Sweeney is cooking something up and we're just going to have to wait and see what it is.
