Pittsburgh Penguins announce several cuts from training camp

As always, the Pittsburgh Penguins have one of the most top heavy rosters in the NHL with their collection of veteran stars, but after missing the playoffs again in 2023/24, they will need to find some depth at training camp. They've already added the likes of Rutger McGroarty, Kevin Hayes, Cody Glass and Blake Lizzotte to their roster this season, and now, things are starting to heat up at camp.

According to the team, they've now begun making cuts, as they trimmed their roster down to 64 today with these prospects all being sent back to their junior teams after solid showings.

With so many veterans on this roster, there's many ways that the Penguins roster can shake out in 2024/25, and if they can find a young name or two that breaks into the roster, they'll be right in line for another Stanley Cup Playoffs appearance. The regular season is less than a month away from starting, so we will start to see more and more cuts from the roster as they look to trim it down to the perfect size, and while no shockers were involved in this round, there's a good chance that we may all be surprised by a move or two this team makes.
