NCAA hockey is becoming bigger and better every single year, and now for powerhouse Penn State, their team is getting a whole lot bigger in the near future.

Penn State have been a powerhouse in the NCAA for quite some time on the ice, and now, their team is expected to get a lot bigger and a lot more fierce in the coming years. According to a report, the team have received an intriguing commitment from Russia in the form of 16-year old Alexander Karmanov.

Penn State has received a commitment from Russian 2008-born forward Alexander Carmanov.

What's intriguing about this is Karmanov's size, as he stands 7-feet tall while weighing in at 250 pounds, and while hockey seems to be gearing itself more towards speed and skill, having someone of this size on the ice will be a massive difference maker.

Reports differ between Karmanov being 6'11" 251, and 7'0" 276, but either way, he will be an absolute game changer if he is to make the NHL.

Across three competitions (two U16 and one U18) this season, Karmanov has shown that his size can be used to a major advantage, tallying an impressive nine points across 18 games.

It's unclear if the size will translate into success in college, but it remains an intriguing and understandable move for Penn State, as he will be a player covered widely when he eventually arrives in North America.
