Zegras has been the subject of many rumors over the past season, if not longer. His relationship with the team appears to be tenuous, with rumors of dissatisfaction from both sides complicating things. Perhaps there is some truth to these rumors though as now we are starting to see more serious rumors appear online. NHL insider Rodger Hicks revealed today that the Utah Hockey Club have made a serious trade offer to Anaheim for Zegras that includes Alex Kerfoot.
Hicks also says that the Utah HC offer includes multiple prospects. Notably, the team has one of the stronger prospect pools in the NHL after years of mismanagement in Arizona. However, Hicks could not specify which prospects may have been included in the offer. He did reveal however, that Utah is not the only team interested in Zegras' services. According to him, the New York Rangers and Carolina Hurricanes have also made serious offers for Zegras.
Hicks seems to believe that the Ducks are currently weighing their options against each other as they continue to negotiate with these teams. As such, the Ducks will be a team to keep an eye on for the coming weeks as they may very well make the next major move this offseason. Should Zegras be traded, it could change the identity of the Ducks for years to come.
