The NHL wrapped up its Global Series over in Sweden on Sunday and as play was winding down, many noticed that the Toronto Maple Leafs had an easier go of things than the other participants.

Fans Believe It Was Bettman's Plan

Toronto was joined overseas by Detroit, Ottawa and Minnesota, with each team playing two games in Stokholm between Thursday and Sunday.
The Senators were forced to play their two games as home games while both Detroit and Minnesota were forced to play their two games on back-to-back nights.
As for the Leafs, their games both went down as away matchups on their schedule, they received an off day between their two games, and they just-so-happened to face the Red Wings and the Wild in the second game of the back-to-backs.
This glaring anomaly was noted by fans of the game.
The Ottawa Senators broadcast crew noted that the schedule was likely made with the idea that Toronto is the more widely recognized team of the group, an Original 6 team that tends to bring in strong revenue for the league.
"...league wouldn't take a home game away from the leafs because they were one of the highest earners of gate revenue in the league..."
