Florida Panthers captain Aleksander Barkov took a knee-on-knee hit and went straight down the tunnel last night and the long-term outlook is concerning.
Barkov Injured By Lacombe
Last night the Florida Panthers took on the Anaheim Ducks in a 2-1 win. However, this win was bittersweet as the Panthers captain, Aleksander Barkov, went down the tunnel after a knee-on-knee hit from Jackson Lacombe.
Barkov has gone to the locker room after a knee-to-knee collision with LaCombe
Dr. Harjas Grewal, a doctor who posts about what an injury could potentially be commented on the hit.
In order of likelihood for Barkov:
Bone bruise/capsular injury (usually shorter term, max 1-2 weeks in NHLers)
PCL injury (time off depends on grade)
Have seen MCL injuries and torn meniscus with this too but unlikely
Last, torn ACL possible but highly unlikely in this case
Through 16 games this year, Barkov has scored 6 goals and 17 points. He also has maintained an elite defensive game with a +14 which leads the Panthers. While there are many things this could be, it looks like the Panthers will be without Barkov for a few games.
