After yet another solid season in 2022-23 with the Vegas Golden Knights, Phil Kessel has expressed his desire to remain on the ice this year, and now, we may be getting closer to that happening.

An incredible streak

Last season, Kessel took his ironman streak to 1,064 games straight dating back to his NHL debut, and while he was scratched for plenty of the Knights Stanley Cup run, he proved he has plenty left in the tank.
NHL Insider Elliotte Friedman revealed that Kessel expressed a desire to remain in the NHL in 2023-24 and beyond, even revealing that he's willing to lose his ironman streak, and will do whatever it takes to be on a team this season.

Deal incoming?

As we head into the second and third week of the 2023-24 season, Kessel is still without a team, but according to TSN's Chris Johnston, that's going to change soon, as the veteran forward continues to draw interest.
He's been skating on his own. He didn't want to go to any training camps on a try-out but it sounds as though he's had a couple close calls with contracts in the past week or two and there is an expectation that he will join a team.

He just wants to be a member of a team and continue living the dream.

This is great news for fans of Kessel, and after a solid 14 goal, 36 point campaign a season ago, he's proven that he can still play at the top level, and will hopefully continue to do so this season.
