Boston Bruins forward Brad Marchand was suspended for six games by the department of player safety on Wednesday and won't be eligible to return until February 24th against Seattle.

The suspension meant Marchand would miss Thursday's clash against the Metropolitan-leading Carolina Hurricanes. Last month, Hurricanes forward Vincent Trocheck was asked if his game and playing style was similar to that of Marchand's. Trocheck responded with "Are you calling me a rat?"

Marchand didn't seem too pleased with that comment and responded on Instagram by saying "This is like comparing a Lambo to a Prius."

Flash forward to Thursday night, Carolina would blowout a depleted Bruins team by a score of 6-0. After the game, North Carolina Governor Roy Cooper took to Twitter to congratulate the team on the win and also took a shot at Brad Marchand.

"Another impressive win by our @Canes against the @NHL Bruins tonight. Wouldn't have mattered if the Lamborghini Marchand @Bmarch63 had played. His cheap shots last night will give him a lot more time to post pretentious, misleading smaller hockey market tripe anyway," Cooper said.

It's not often you see a politician call out a professional athlete. This should make for an interesting story to follow, especially if Marchand decides to respond.
