A Twitter exchange that took place about a week ago between former NHLer turned analyst Anson Carter and Michael Russo of The Athletic moved to the airways Wednesday night as Carter took some shots at Russo on TV. This all started when Carter mocked an article on Twitter written by Russo that talked about the Minnesota Wild's depth.

"These Minnesota Wild fans (& reporters) talking about their depth after beating an awful Chicago Blackhawks team. Where were y'all after the Winter Classic beat down missing Ek, Brodin, and Spurgeon??? How was that depth treating ya? Injuries happen, can they overcome them? We'll see!," said Carter on February 4th.

That got this response from Russo: "I have great respect for you, but since this was a shot at me, the Minnesota Wild went 9-0-1 since that winter classic, some nights without eight and nine guys, including the same three you mention. You watch them once a month. I'd trust the fans & reporter you're laughing at who watch them regularly."

While appearing on the NHL on TNT Thursday night, Carter and his colleagues were talking about the Western Conference standings, when Carter decided to take another shot at Russo.

"I can't comment on this," said Carter. "Apparently I don't watch any games according to that writer Russo. Ya know, I don't watch any hockey whatsoever. So, I'm just saying guys."

Carter wasn't done there. After some jokes back and forth with Wayne Gretzky regarding his golfing, Carter added sarcastically "we're not authorities on these teams." It was at this point that Gretzky tried to change the subject to Calgary goalie Jacob Markstrom, who just got his eighth shutout of the season. Carter stated he wanted to get back to Russo at some point, adding "stay on code, buddy. Stay on code" while looking directly at the camera.
