The report states Rask had experienced some discomfort in the hip he had surgery on over the summer. He is now discussing his future with his family, and will likely announce his "retirement decision in the next few days."
"I give him all the credit in the world," one of the sources told The Athletic. "He did everything right. He just didn't feel as good as he thought he would."
Rask's last game with the Bruins was on January 24th, when he let in five goals on 27 shots against the Anaheim Ducks.
Rask, 34, is a former Vezina trophy winner, William M. Jenning winner, and one of the best netminders ever to come out of Finland. He has his name on the Stanley Cup for the Bruins' 2011 Stanley Cup win. However, he was backup to Tim Thomas at the time. Should he retire, this certainly isn't the end he was hoping for, but you also have to know when the body can longer handle it.
