P.K. Subban doesn't rule out a return to Montreal in free agency

Former Montreal Canadien, now New Jersey Devils defenceman P.K. Subban met with the media on Tuesday morning ahead of tonight's game against his old team.

The 32-year-old is set to become an unrestricted free agent this summer and was asked about a potential return to the Montreal Canadiens, the team that drafted him all the way back in 2007.

Subban said that anything is possible and that "You wanna' play where you're wanted." He added, "Montreal will always be a home for me."

The Toronto, Ontario native spent parts of seven seasons with the Canadiens, playing a key role in helping them advance to the Eastern Conference Final in 2014. In 434 career games with Montreal, Subban had 278 points (63 G, 215 A), 532 penalty minutes and was a +35.

Given that Montreal is going in the direction of a rebuild, it's hard to see a reunion between them and P.K. Subban. If the Canadiens were in a position of trying to win and go on a deep playoff run, trading for Subban at the deadline or signing him in July would be an ideal choice. But with Montreal at the basement of the NHL standings, it's hard to picture Subban in a Canadiens uniform once again, but as he mentioned, anything is possible.
