Columbus Blue Jackets Linked in Trade to 75-Point Scorer by NHL Writer

A new report from The Hockey News has linked the Columbus Blue Jackets to acquiring a highly talented winger who used to play for the team.

This season the Columbus Blue Jackets have greatly outperformed their projected record at this point in the NHL season.

Heading into the NHL season many experts around the NHL expected the Blue Jackets to be one of the worst teams in the NHL.

Instead, 20 games into the NHL season they are just 3 points out of a playoff spot and playing well.

With that being said the Blue Jackets are an incredibly young group who could use a veteran scoring presence to take their playoff hopes to the next level.

This afternoon a new article from The Hockey News linked the Blue Jackets to Gustav Nyquist who formerly played with the team.

The Nashville Predators have struggled mightily this season despite signing several big-name free agents like Steven Stamkos and Jonathan Marchessault this summer.

Earlier this season Predators GM Barry Trotz revealed to the media that if the team did not turn things around he would start the rebuild and offload several stars.

If that becomes the case 35-year-old Gustav Nyquist will certainly be one of the first players to go elsewhere.

While Gustav Nyquist isn't quite the same player he used to be in his prime he still has 9 points in 21 games this season.

This type of scoring level would be a perfect addition to the third line of the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Columbus has plenty of prospects and draft picks to give up if they want to reward this group and make an addition and a player like Gustav Nyquist wouldn't be expensive to acquire.
