For quite some time now, James Reimer has been one of the most controversial goaltenders in the NHL, but at this point, that hasn't stopped him from continually getting jobs.
After being waived by the Anaheim Ducks this past week, Reimer was swiftly claimed by the Buffalo Sabres, despite the team already having two goaltenders on their roster.
The 36-year old veteran is yet to play a game with the Sabres, but it's safe to say that fans are not happy about his arrival, with many voicing that on social media since the move to claim him.
Most of that displeasure comes from the fact that Reimer has shown himself to be a bigot, opposing the NHL's support of Pride Night celebrations, which is the one time a year that the league used to celebrate the LGBTQ community.
Reimer was among a few players such as Ivan Provorov and Marc Staal who took a stand against the pride night jersey's, ultimately getting them banned by the league that has seen a gutless move from Gary Bettman to remove all special jersey nights.
Unsurprisingly, the move to bring in a player with such beliefs hasn't gone down well with the Sabres community, as many, many fans on social media have expressed their disgust at the team for bringing him in.
On top of that, this is a group that already has Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen and Devon Levi on the roster, making it even more questionable why they would need someone like Reimer, who has been terrible on the ice in recent years.
As mentioned, he is yet to take the ice for the Sabres, and it's unclear when/if he will debut with them, but it's safe to say that when he does, it won't be that warm of a welcome given not only his reputation around the league, but the struggles that have plagued him for years.
