Jason Cirone was a draft pick of the Winnipeg Jets back in 1989, and after a fantastic career across the world, the 53-year old has tragically passed away.

The hockey world has lost some truly incredible people in recent years, and now, the heartbreaking announcement has been made of the passing of a former Winnipeg Jets draft pick. According to reports, Jason Cirone, who was picked back in 1989 by the Jets has passed away at aged 53, following a tough battle with cancer.

During his career, Cirone would play just 3 games in the NHL with the Jets, but would become an icon for many fans overseas, playing 190 games with Asiago in the Italian Hockey League where he would become a fan favourite, tallying 92 goals and 194 points during that time. Playing for Italy in the World Championships, he was just as impressive, adding 9 goals and 21 points through 46 games with the team over the years, but ultimately, his battle with cancer has come to an end.
Not only was Cirone fantastic on the ice, but away from the ice he has been seen as a fantastic person and a great friend to many, with cancer once again claiming another life way, way too early. We take this time to send condolences to his friends, family, former teammates and anyone that Cirone inspired over the years, and hope you can find strength, happiness and joy through this incredibly tough time in your lives.
Rest in Peace Jason Cirone.
