The 39-year-old veteran Pierre-Édouard Bellemare has signed a new NHL contract with one of the best teams in the Central Division.

In breaking news, Elliotte Friedman revealed on X that Bellemare signed a professional tryout contract with the Colorado Avalanche, where he played between 2019 and 2021.

The insider shared the following post on X:

With the Avs, Bellemare scored 33 points in 122 games. The undrafted winger has also played for the Philadelphia Flyers, Vegas Golden Knights, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Seattle Kraken during his career.

Colorado will try to bounce back from a tough elimination in the second round of last year's playoffs. After they beat the Winnipeg Jets, who were one of the favorite teams going into the playoffs, in only five games, they hit a wall and lost to the Dallas Stars in six games.

Bellemare will try to convince Jared Bednar and the rest of the coaching staff to give him a spot in the lineup for the regular season. It likely won't be an easy task, as the 39-year-old veteran will need to compete against much younger players. He'll try to bring his experience, leadership, and talent to the Avs in order to convince general manager Chris MacFarland to offer him a standard player contract.
