The Edmonton Oilers need to take urgent action this week after receiving two offer sheets, and they may be forced to trade Cody Ceci and Brett Kulak.

The St. Louis Blues have proved to be a major source of headache for Oilers GM Stan Bowman after they sent him two offer sheets for Dylan Holloway and Philip Broberg. The Oilers now have less than five days remaining to respond. If Bowman wants to keep both players offer sheeted, they will likely be forced to trade Brett Kulak and/or Cody Ceci. Kulak is set to earn $2.75M next season, while Ceci will be paid $3.25M.
PostMedia's Bruce Garrioch has revealed that there is a ton of interest in both veterans of the Oilers from multiple teams, but the price to pay is quite high.
Pretty much all GM's around the league know the Oilers are in a desperate situation right now, therefore no teams out there would be willing to take either Cody Ceci or Brett Kulak unless Stan Bowman attached a 1st or 2nd-round draft pick in the deal. The bad news for the Oilers is that they do not have either one of those for the 2025 NHL draft, so that means they will likely have to get rid of one in 2026 or 2027.
The time is ticking for the Oilers to make a decision as to whether they will match the offers or not, so Stan Bowman is going to be a busy man working the phones all weekend long, likely late into the night as well.
