The Paris 2024 Olympics has been no stranger to controversy, and now that continues as a US gymnast is on the verge of having her bronze medal stripped.

Over the past few days, there has been more controversy at the 2024 Paris Olympics, this time involving US Gymnast Jordan Chiles, who won bronze in the individual event over the weekend. Unfortunately, her success may be short lived, as it appears she could be stripped of her bronze medal after an update from the Court of Arbitration for Sport.

Originally, Jordan Chiles placed fifth in the event, but her coaches placed in an appeal that allowed her to up the difficulty rating of her routine, naturally taking her from fifth to bronze in the scoring. This led to plenty of heartbreak for her competitors, but allowed Chiles to celebrate what would have been a major moment in her life.

Unfortunately, drama has now followed, as the CAS have now officially revealed that the appeal came after the time frame permitting such an action, which will seemingly lead to Chiles being stripped of the bronze medal. USA Gymnastics have put out a statement regarding the situation, believing that the CAS ruling has overstepped its bounds, and given the details that are available, it's hard to argue with them.

This unsurprisingly hasn't gone down well with US gymnastics and everyone involved in the situation, with Chiles' sister having a much harsher reaction on social media.

Ultimately, this was a wild situation all around that could have been handled much better from several parties involved, but for now, the US appear to be one bronze down on their medal tally, much to the dismay of Chiles, US gymnastics and everyone that supported them throughout their journey.
