It's no secret the Leafs are in desperate search of extra grit and leadership if they want to make deep runs in future playoffs, and that is exactrly what Trouba would bring to them. Not only is he a captain for a very good Rangers team, but he makes $2.8 million less than Marner. For those worried about a loss of offense should Marner be traded, Lafreniere would do a good job at filling in, as he had a career year last season, notching career highs in goals, assists and points, with 28, 29 and 57 respectively. Leafs fans would be happy to know that Lafreniere is now being compared to Avalanche superstar
Nathan MacKinnon.
