Jonathan Marchessault, undrafted, won the Conn Smythe trophy last season, but may now be coming to the end of his time with the Vegas Golden Knights.

One of the original members of the Vegas Golden Knights, from their expansion draft, Jonathan Marchessault has been at the heart of their wildly successful franchise since the beginning.
He is beloved by fans, and sealed himself into Vegas Golden Knights history with his Conn Smythe trophy win in the 2023 Stanley Cup playoffs as he led the team to their first title.
"The Vegas Golden Knights want to make this a priority. Have made it internally a priority. And there are going to be discussions between Kelly McCrimmon and Jonathan Marchessault's agent, Pat Brisson, in about a week's time. So we'll see kind of how that develops."

Unfortunately, the salary cap is tight, and the Vegas Golden Knights may not be able to retain their poster boy. Reports from HockeyPatrol and Maple Leafs Daily indicate that if the Toronto Maple Leafs are unable to come to terms on a contract extension with Tyler Bertuzzi, their backup plan is Jonathan Marchessault.
