Laurent Dauphin played 92 NHL games in his career. Now playing in Europe, he has adopted a vicious side to his game. It doesn't look like it'll work out.

Dauphin Throws a Disgusting Hit to the Head of His Opponent: Major Suspension Likely

Laurent Dauphin's NHL career, split between Arizona and Montreal wasn't the most prestigious. The 2013 2nd round pick spent most of his North American time in the AHL, but with no interest from teams for an NHL contract this season, he opted to sign with Ambri-Piotta of the NL.
He was off to a very strong start, with 11 points through his first 12 games, but an incident last night might sideline him for some significant time.
In a heated section of the game between Ambri-Piotta and opposing Rapperswil-Jona, Dauphin jumped several feet to throw a hit directly into the head of his opponent Tyler Moy:
L'horreur du jour est signée Laurent Dauphin.

(The horror of the day comes from Laurent Dauphin)

The way Dauphin approached this hit, clearly leaving the surface of the ice very seemingly with the intent to injure will certainly see him get some games in the press box. With the NL being notorious for significant suspensions, this could be as much as 10 games.
Moy, a sixth round pick of the Nashville Predators, has spent the last several years in the NL. Hopefully he won't have any lasting effects from this truly disgusting incident.
Reddit users quickly pointed out the six suspendable elements of the hit:
- Wow, there are like 5 suspendable things in a single hit.

- Skates leave the ice✅

- hits the neck and head ✅

- comes with tons of speed ✅

- sees only numbers ✅

- and takes him into the boards ✅

- Throws a knee with the initial blow too!
