In a game between the Boston Bruins and New York Rangers on Tuesday night, goaltender Igor Shesterkin was forced by a concussion spotter to be taken out of the game.

Given what was at stake, Shesterkin was furious as he left the ice, initially waving off the Rangers trainer who was telling him to leave, and then slamming his stick against the glass. Thankfully for his sake, the Rangers were able to get through the remainder of the overtime, and he himself was able to return for the shootout and help his team grab the two points. After the game however, he was still quite upset about being removed.

«I don't really understand the whole point of that protocol, there's 40 seconds left in the overtime. Just let me finish the play and then you can do whatever protocol you feel is necessary.»

The 26-year-old netminder did go on to apologize for his actions on the way off the ice, saying he will not do that going forward. With how well he is playing, however, it is unlikely anyone in the Rangers organization cares much, if at all, for his moment of frustration. Through 30 games he now owns a 2.05 goals against average along with a .938 save percentage and is the current frontrunner for the Vezina Trophy.
