The Boston Bruins are primed for a big 2024/25 campaign, and now their captain may be too after undergoing three major surgeries this summer.

Last season, the Boston Bruins overachieved in the eyes of many, with the team pushing the eventual Stanley Cup Champion Florida Panthers to six games in the Eastern Conference Semi Final after taking down the Maple Leafs in round one. Now, we may know one thing that held them back in a big way, as a recent report has revealed that captain Brad Marchand played the entire season injured and went on to have three surgeries this off-season.

Those three surgeries were to repair injuries suffered to his abdominal, groin and elbow, and while we know hockey players are tough, battling through all of those injuries throughout the year shows immense fortitude from the captain. Despite those injuries, Marchand would still post 29 goals and 67 points through all 82 games played, helping the Bruins back to the Stanley Cup Playoffs once more during his first season as captain.

With the additions of both Elias Lindholm and Nikita Zadorov this off-season, the team are primed to be a threat in the loaded Eastern Conference once more, and if their captain can be fully healthy throughout the year, they'll no doubt be a team to keep a close eye on when the Stanley Cup Playoffs roll around.
